Wombbath/Internal Caustic Torments/Pulverised Records/2013 CD Re-Issue Review

Wombbath  where  a  band  from  Sweden  that  played  Swedish  style  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  1993  album  "Internal  Caustic  Torments"  which  was  re-issued  by  Pulverised  Records  in  the  year  of  2013  and  also  contains  1992  demo's  and  7  inches  "Brutal  Might's"  and  "Several  Shapes"  as  well  as  a  bonus  re-recorded  track.

Drums  range  from slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  along  with  some  brutal    blast  beats,  while  the  synths  which  are  only  used as  an  intro  as  well  as  a  sound  effect in  certain  songs  bring  a  very  dark  sound  to  the album,   as  for  the  bass  guitars  it  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  heavy  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording  and  back  then  it  was  produced  a  lot  better  than  most  death  metal  albums  where  back  then.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  death  metal  guitar  riffs  that  where  very  heavy  for  their  along  with  some  melody  and  primitive  elements  as  well  as  not  being  the  typical   Swedish   death  metal   sound  and  you  can  also  hear  some  elements  of  thrash  in  the  demo  songs  and  on  the  intro  of  the  7  inch  there  are  some  soft  and  clean  guitars  being utilized,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  dark  and  melodic   sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads  that  where  heavily  influenced  by  the  Florida  death   metal   scene   of   the   time.

Vocals   are  mostly  deep  death  metal  growls  but  there  are  some  high  pitched  screams  being  utilized  in certain  sections  of  the  album,   while  the lyrics  cover  darkness,  death  and  gore  themes,   as  for  the  production  it  had  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  for  the  time  it  was  recorded  and  released  and  if  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments   that  are  present  on  this  recording  while  also  retaining  a  primitive   sound,  but  the  demo's  do  have  a  slightly  more  raw  feeling  and  a  couple  of  the songs  where re-recorded  for  the  full  length  album.

In  my  opinion  Wombaath  where  a  very  great  sounding  90's  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  re-issue.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Intestinal  Bleeding"  "Performed  In  Depth"  "Several  Shapes"  and  "Corporal  Punishment".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
