Mortal Factor are a band from Switzerland that plays a mixture of death and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "No Lessons Need learning" which was released by Non Stop Music Records.
A very dark and distorted sound starts off the album before going into more of a thrash metal direction along with all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and a few seconds later aggressive vocals are added into the music and there is also a decent amount of solos and leads being utilized throughout the recording that are also heavily influenced by 80's metal.
Death metal growls can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording and at times the guitars also bring in melodic riffs as well as a brief use of whispered style vocals and spoken word parts and one of the tracks also shows the band bringing in a brief use of clean playing, also on this recording you can hear a bit of the 80's hardcore sound being added into some of the tracks and towards the end of the album the vocals start adding in more melody and the band also brings in elements of early 90's groove metal.
Mortal Factor plays a style of thrash/death metal that goes back to the mid 80's to early 90's style of the genre and also bring in elements of hardcore and groove metal and while this is not a style I regularly listen to, i still feel the band is very good at what they do, the production sound s very old school yet professional at the same time while the lyrics cover real life themes.
In my opinion Mortal Factor are a very decent sounding mixture of death and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Moving Among You" "Knives vs. Guns" "Crank it" and "Final Call". 7/5 out of 10.
